FUNCTIONAL
FITNESS
what is
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
Functional fitness is the movement that we do in every day life: squatting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting. Think of sitting down on a chair, or toilet, or into the car—this is the same movement as a squat. We take the ability to do these movements for granted when we're young, but as we age, they get increasingly more difficult. Building strength in these movements enables us to have the freedom to live independently as we age. Picking up your suitcase, or grocery bags off the ground—this is the bending/hinging movement in a deadlift— training those muscles enable us to lift things in our daily life without hurting ourselves. Safely moving an object from the ground to a high shelf is the same muscles used in ground to overhead movements in the gym. All of these movements are things we do in our daily life, and here at Elemental Strength we believe that training those movements, strengthening those muscles, and conditioning our bodies will help with other areas of our lives, like mountain biking, skiing, playing with our kids or grandkids, and will help us maintain our independence as we age.
At Elemental Strength we will offer classes to train and strengthen our functional movements, and will be doable for people of all ages and fitness levels,
HOW IT WORKS
We offer multiple guided classes every weekday.

Class will include a warm up, the main workout, typically with a strength and a metabolic conditioning section, and a cool down. The classes will be led by the coach, and are scaleable/able to be modified for everyone, including those who have never set foot into a gym or lifted weights before.
All classes taught each day will be the same workout, but workouts between different days will vary (as in we won’t do the same work out on Monday and Tuesday)
Our class membership allows you to attend unlimited classes, however space in each class is limited, so you must reserve your spot through the Wodify app.

TRAVELING?
We offer drop in classes for people who are away from home, and looking for a place to work out while in the Dolores area.
